The Kriskindl Cheermeister must be someone who:

• Currently resides in Marquette County 

• Must be 21+ 

They maybe someone who: 

• Gives their time to support local organizations and causes

• Volunteers to help neighbors and community members

• Helps create opportunities for others

• Supports local families, children, seniors, or those in need

• Brings people together through community involvement

• Demonstrates kindness, generosity, and a genuine spirit of giving

• Makes a positive and lasting impact on the community

The Kriskindl Cheermeister is honored throughout the Ishpeming Kriskindlmarkt as the community’s official ambassador of holiday cheer.

• Official Cheermeister Attire — Through our partnership with Stormy Kromer, the Cheermeister is outfitted in distinctive traditional attire, including a Stormy Kromer Santa or Mrs. Claus hat with plume, Kriskindl Cheermeister golden sash, Stormy Kromer Double Mackinaw Coat, black wool pants, and rawhide choppers.

• Hand-Carved Cheermeister Staff — The Cheermeister carries a one-of-a-kind, hand-carved staff that is passed down from one Cheermeister to the next, creating a lasting symbol of the tradition and honor.

• Official Revealing at the Cheermeister’s Ball — Honored at the exclusive, Ticketed VIP-only Cheermeister Ball at The Mather. (Thursday November 12th) 

• Opens the Markt — Leads the ceremonial ribbon-cutting to officially kick off the Kriskindlmarkt. (2pm Friday November 27th) 

• Tapping of the Golden Keg &Toast — Performs the ceremonial keg tapping to begin the festivities to open the Snowshoe Pub with our Upper Hand Brewery Beer partnership. (4pm Friday November 27th) 

• Torch Light Parade Grand Marshal — Leads the Ishpeming Torch Light Parade in horse and carriage as Grand Marshal. (7pm Friday November 27th) 

• Lights the Ishpeming Christmas Tree — Has the honor of lighting the city’s Christmas tree with Santa. (Directly following the Ishpeming Torch Light Parade, 7pm Friday November 27th) 

• Center Stage at the Markt — Recognized throughout the celebration and joins market-goers in celebrating the season and spirit of giving.

• Joins the Cheermeister Legacy — Becomes part of the growing tradition of community leaders honored for their service to Marquette County.

• Official Cheermeister Portrait — Have a professional portrait taken and prominently displayed on the website and at every Cheermeister’s Ball moving forward. 

• Local Media & Social Media Recognition — Recognized through local media coverage and featured across Kriskindlmarkt social media channels, highlighting their community service and contributions to Marquette County.

An evening honoring a community leader, thanking our volunteers and sponsors, and revealing our very first Kriskindl Cheermeister. 

The Cheermeister Ball is an exclusive, VIP-only ticketed celebration held in the historic Mather Ballroom. The evening is our opportunity to thank our sponsors, volunteers, community leaders, and friends of the Ishpeming Kriskindlmarkt while celebrating the magic of the season.

No one outside of the Cheermeister Selection Committee and the Cheermeister’s Family will know who was selected until this reveal at The Cheermeister’s Ball.
